Last week, our employees contributed to an important cause that holds significant meaning for one of our own, Andrew, Business Development Director for LATAM. Andrew raised awareness and garnered support for prostate cancer through his participation in the charity event called “The Big Golf Race 2023,” organized by Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer, the second most diagnosed cancer among men worldwide, has claimed the lives of thousands of individuals, including fathers, brothers, partners, grandfathers, friends, sons, and uncles.
For Andrew, the fight against prostate cancer is deeply personal, having lost one of his family members to the disease. Hence, Andrew has wholeheartedly dedicated himself to participating in “The Big Golf Race 2023.” On the 5th of June, he played four rounds of golf, or a total of 72 holes, in a single day. Teeing off at 04:45am, he finally finished the last hole just before 9pm, amounting to 16 hours in total. In addition to the physical demands of the event, Andrew and his fellow participants covered over 53,000 steps or over 25 miles on foot. This extraordinary effort aims to raise awareness about prostate cancer and its profound impact on individuals and families. Out of over 1,000 teams participating, Andrew’s team ranked 3rd in total fundraising.
Every contribution, regardless of the amount, plays a crucial role in funding life-saving research to develop improved tests for early detection and diagnosis of prostate cancer. Together, let us unite, spread the word, and create a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families affected by prostate cancer.
